A true oasis standing in the heart of the North Territory's outback area, Alice Springs gained much popularity and wealth at the beginning of the 20th century, following the arrival of the Ghan train line.

Despite is rich Aboriginal heritage and historical buildings, much of Alice Springs retains a fairly modern appearance, with excellent amenities and places to visit.

  • Old Courthouse, along Hartley Street, built in 1928
  • Ayer's Rock, known locally as 'Uluru', a spectacular natural landmark within driving distance of the Alice Springs area
  • Old Ghan Train Museum, offering a range of restored trains
  • Araluen Art Centre, known for its modern art and Aboriginal works
  • Todd Mall, with some of the best shopping opportunities in Alice Springs
  • Alice Springs Desert Park, an important wildlife park with a host of native flora and fauna
